I grew up in Rhode Island and Georgia, then jumped into a year of adventure in the Andes Mountains of Peru. There, I volunteered in a prison, learned Spanish, and rode almost no elevators for an entire year.
Years later, I became mom to Kai- smart, funny, endlessly curious, and absolutely obsessed with... ELEVATORS! Together, our family dove into research on their history and engineering. But children’s books on the topic were surprisingly scarce. So I wrote the book I couldn’t find for my little engineer. UP WE GO! AMAZING ELEVATORS was born—and so was my love for writing kidlit!
Now I write picture books across genres and styles. As a Spanish Interpreter at the International Rescue Committee and the parent of a bilingual, bicultural child, I'm passionate about stories that celebrate language, connection, and empathy. I'm also excited to write more STEM-infused narrative nonfiction that reminds kids that the world is full of wonder-- often in the most unexpected places!
